FLUSHING, QUEENS, NY – Police were on the scene of an accident in Queens Monday morning that killed a man on an electric scooter, according to the Daily News.
The crash occurred on Parsons Boulevard near 32nd Avenue in Flushing at about 8 a.m. According to investigators, the victim was riding a scooter on a sidewalk when he veered and entered the path of a Dodge Ram pickup truck that was headed south on Parsons Boulevard.
As the truck was making a left turn onto 32nd Avenue, it collided with the scooter. The rider was taken to New York-Presbyterian Queens, where he was pronounced dead.
He was identified as 58-year-old Li Ren.
Police said the driver of the pickup truck, a 66-year-old man, remained at the scene following the crash. He had the right of way at the time according to investigators, and so far there have been no arrests in the case.
The victim lived less than a mile away from the scene of the crash.
