YONKERS, WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY – Two drivers were killed when their vehicles collided on a highway in Westchester County on Sunday afternoon, reports ABC 7 New York.
According to investigators, the driver of a Lincoln SUV lost control of the vehicle while heading south on the Saw Mill River Parkway near McLean Avenue in Yonkers at about 2 p.m. The SUV crashed through an opening in the concrete divider of the center median and slammed head-on into a Hyundai SUV that was going northbound.
The Lincoln driver, 57-year-old Adolph Cintron Jr. of Brooklyn, and the Hyundai driver, 40-year-old Noe Perez Procopio of the Bronx, both died in the wreck. Perez Procopio’s wife and teenage daughter suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Another driver of a northbound vehicle was injured in a separate accident that happened after the initial crash.
The northbound lanes of the Saw Mill River Parkway were closed and the southbound lanes were partially closed as police and emergency crews responded.
