$500,000 Settlement

Our client was experiencing pain after he had been shoveling snow. His primary care physician performed an EKG and diagnosed the 69-year-old man with joint pain. He was sent home by the doctor with a prescription for a muscle relaxer. The following night our client was still experiencing pain and was taken to the hospital where it was discovered he had suffered a mild heart attack, thankfully with only minor residual effects. The doctor claimed he did not see any problems with the EKG and was therefore not responsible for failing to diagnose the impending heart attack. Although the attorneys for the doctor put up a strong and vigorous defense, during the defendant’s deposition the medical malpractice attorneys at Finz & Finz, P.C., were able to obtain incriminating testimony that there was a visual indication of a problem on the EKG. Before the trial was set to begin in Queens Supreme Court, the lawyers at Finz & Finz, P.C., were able to secure a favorable settlement in the sum of half a million dollars for our client.
