Our client had a port surgically inserted to administer chemotherapy. After the surgery, he experienced tingling in his arm. The surgeon advised that tingling was normal, but if it continued and worsened that he should go to the ER. Reassured by his doctor, our client went to sleep and when he awoke, he was experiencing neurological symptoms. He was admitted to a Nassau County hospital and diagnosed with a mild stroke and was advised that the window for giving a “clot buster” had closed. Thereafter, our client consulted with a cardio-thoracic surgeon who performed a CT scan, which showed that the port was not properly inserted. The port was then removed and replaced. Fortunately, our client made a good recovery and was able to return to work.
