Police said the victim, identified as 69-year-old Chen Mei Pan, was walking blocks away from her home when the incident occurred at the intersection of 85th Street and 16th Avenue in Bensonhurst.

According to investigators, she was struck at about 10 a.m. by the driver of a Dodge Ram pickup who was turning left from 85th Street onto 16th Avenue. Pan was pronounced dead after being transported to Maimonides Hospital. Her son said she had been returning home from grocery shopping when the accident happened.

Police said the 36-year-old Brooklyn man who was driving the pickup truck stayed at the scene following the crash, which remains under investigation by the NYPD.
