FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN, NY – The NYPD was at the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident in Brooklyn Tuesday morning, according to 1010 WINS.
Police officers arrived at the intersection of Foster Avenue and East 17th Street in Flatbush following a report of a pedestrian struck shortly before 7 a.m.
Investigators said a 64-year-old woman was crossing at the intersection when she was struck by a gray Chevy sedan. The woman was found unconscious and unresponsive in the roadway. She was pronounced dead after being rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. Her identity was not immediately released.
The driver of the vehicle, a 57-year-old woman, stayed at the scene of the crash. Police do not suspect there was any criminality involved.
The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is continuing to investigate the incident.
It was reported by Streets Blog NYC that this was the 12th pedestrian killed in the city so far this year.
