Woman Killed After Hitting Mailbox in Melville


MELVILLE, NY – A 66-year-old woman tragically died after hitting a mailbox in Melville on Thursday morning.

The woman, Carmela Baselice, was driving her 2006 Hummer on Old Country Road when she veered off the road and struck a mailbox at 96 Old Country Road. The accident occurred just after 10:00 a.m.

Baselice was killed on impact. Authorities are continuing to investigate the fatal collision. Anyone with information about the incident should contact the Suffolk County Police Second Squad.
