Woman killed, 2 others injured in multi-vehicle collision in Dix Hills

DIX HILLS, LONG ISLAND, NY – One person died and two others were hospitalized following a collision in Suffolk County on Friday evening, Newsday reports.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash that occurred in the area of Vanderbilt Parkway and Village Hill Drive in Dix Hills. Suffolk County Police said the driver of a Nissan SUV was going west on Vanderbilt Parkway at about 5:30 p.m. when she crossed over into the eastbound lane.

The Nissan collided with an eastbound Honda sedan, with one of the vehicles then hitting a Volvo SUV going east on Vanderbilt Parkway.

The driver of the Nissan, identified as 63-year-old Donna Locicero of Dix Hills, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two people in the Honda were hospitalized with serious injuries. They were 78-year-old Nirmal Rai and his daughter 34-year-old Aneeta Rai, both from Dix Hills. The driver of the Volvo was not injured.

The vehicles involved in the wreck were impounded as part of the investigation. Anyone with further information was asked to contact Suffolk County Police.
