HEMPSTEAD, LONG ISLAND, NY – A woman is facing multiple criminal charges for a deadly crash in Hempstead, Long Island in which she was allegedly driving drunk, WNBC reports.
28-year-old Tasha Brown of Uniondale was indicted for the incident that occurred in the area of Front Street and Hendrickson Avenue on May 29, 2021. Authorities said Brown was driving a Toyota Corolla with three passengers at about 4:30 a.m. when she went off the roadway and hit several parked cars.
29-year-old Nelson Fuentes of Massapequa was sitting in one of the cars and was killed. Brown and her passengers were all injured. According to the indictment, Brown was driving at over 90 miles an hour and was intoxicated at the time the crash occurred.
Brown was indicted on more than a dozen charges, including manslaughter, aggravated vehicular homicide, reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. If convicted, she faces up to 25 years in prison.
She pleaded not guilty to the charges at a court appearance last Friday and is due back in court May 10.
