STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department is investigating after a woman was struck and killed by a Con Edison truck on Staten Island, according to the Staten Island Advance.

The victim was identified as 52-year-old Miao Ling Kuan, a resident of the borough’s Fort Wadsworth section.  The accident happened last Friday at 7:48 a.m. in the area of Narrows Road South and Fingerboard Road, near the Staten Island Expressway in the Grasmere neighborhood.

Authorities say the driver of a Ford Con Ed truck was making a left onto Narrows Road South when the vehicle struck Kuan at the intersection. She was severely injured and was pronounced dead at the scene, sources said.

The 46-year-old driver stayed at the scene.

In a statement, a Con Ed spokesperson was quoted as saying, “We express our deepest condolences for the victim’s family and friends,” adding that the utility is coopering with police.

The intersection was shut down to traffic for over two hours following the incident, and MTA S52 buses were detoured around the scene.

The NYPD’s Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad is looking into the crash.
