Pickup truck driver killed in multi-vehicle accident in Nassau County

LEVITTOWN, LONG ISLAND, NY – Police in Nassau County were at the scene of a fatal multi-vehicle accident on Monday morning, the Daily Voice reports.

The crash took place on Wantagh Avenue in Levittown near Red Maple Drive North just after 9:30 a.m. Investigators said a man driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck lost control of the vehicle, hitting a curb and a fence. The pickup flipped and hit two vehicles that were stopped in traffic on Red Maple Drive North, a Ford F-150 pickup and a Honda Odyssey.

The pickup driver, age 46, was pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital. His identity was not immediately released. The driver of the Ford, a 60-year-old woman, and the driver of the Honda, a 24-year-old man, were both hospitalized. Their injuries were not regarded as life-threatening.

Nassau County Police detectives are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.
