Pedestrian dies after being hit by motorcycle near Long Island intersection

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, LONG ISLAND, NY – One person was killed and another seriously injured in a crash that occurred near an intersection on Long Island late Saturday night, the Daily Voice reports.

According to Nassau County Police, a man was walking across Merrick Road from north to south near North Forest Avenue in Rockville Centre when he was hit by a BMW motorcycle at about 11:55 p.m. The motorcycle rider was ejected, and the bike then hit a Honda Civic that was going east on Merrick Road.

The 42-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead less than two hours later after being taken to an area hospital. His name was not immediately released. The motorcyclist was hospitalized in serious condition.

A 19-year-old man who was driving the Honda was not injured and stayed at the scene. Nassau County Police are continuing their investigation into the wreck.
