Passenger Killed in Crash on Fairvew/North Bergen Border

NORTH BERGEN, NY – 40-year-old Jose Santos of North Bergen was killed in a car accident on the Fairvew/North Bergen border on Wednesday night.

A 2017 Honda Civic Type R driven by 26-year-old Jose Francisco-Garcia ran into a utility pole on Broad Avenue around 1:30 AM on Wednesday morning. Santos, a passenger in the vehicle, was killed upon impact.

Francisco-Garcia is believed to have been intoxicated at the time of the accident. He has been charged with vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving, and failing to maintain a lane. A DWI charge is pending based on the results of a toxicology report.
