CAMBRIA HEIGHTS, QUEENS, NY – Police said a single-vehicle car accident in Queens last week left a passenger dead and two other people injured, according to a report in The Daily News.

The incident happened early Friday on the Cross Island Parkway near the exit for Linden Boulevard in Cambria Heights. Police said a 26-year-old woman was driving a 2017 Mercedes-Benz south on the roadway at about 3 a.m. and crashed into a guardrail, causing the vehicle to overturn. Investigators said the driver was apparently speeding at the time.

One passenger, a 24-year-old woman, was pronounced dead after being transported to Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Hospital. Her name was not released.

The driver and another passenger, a 32-year-old woman, were also hospitalized, one at Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Hospital and the other at Jamaica Hospital. They were reported to be in stable condition.

The NYPD’s Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad was trying to determine the cause of the fatal wreck.
