NYPD searching for driver who struck pedestrian in Queens

WOODHAVEN, QUEENS – A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in Queens early Monday morning in what police said was a hit-and-run incident.

Law enforcement sources told amNewYork the victim was a 54-year-old woman who was walking in the Woodhaven section of the borough when the crash happened at about 4:50 a.m.

She was reportedly trying to walk across Woodhaven Boulevard at the intersection with 91st Avenue when she was hit by a gray sedan going north.  Police officers from the 102nd Precinct were dispatched to the scene and found the severely injured woman.

She was transported to Jamaica Hospital and was listed in critical condition.  The driver of the sedan was reported to have fled the scene going north on Woodhaven Boulevard.

A search is now underway for the vehicle and the driver involved as the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad continues its investigation into the incident.
