HOLBROOK, LONG ISLAND – One man was killed and several other people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Long Island last week, reports LongIsland.com.
The wreck happened at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Highway and Lincoln Avenue in Holbrook Sept. 28 at about 7:10 a.m.
Suffolk County Police said 69-year-old Steven Russell was driving a Ford Bronco north on Lincoln Avenue when his vehicle was hit by a Ford F550 going east on Veterans Memorial Highway. The F550 then collided with a Chevrolet van that had stopped at the intersection.
Russell, a Brentwood resident, was pronounced dead after being taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue.
The Ford driver, 37-year-old Marco Pineda of Brentwood, and three male passengers were transported to the same hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet, 63-year-old Carol Pozzini of West Islip, was not injured.
The Bronco was impounded for a safety check, while checks on the other two vehicles were performed at the scene. Suffolk County Fifth Squad detectives are continuing to investigate the crash.
