The victim was identified as 32-year-old Lakierdra Thomas of Williamsburg. Investigators with the NYPD said she was crossing the street in the area of Graham Avenue and Broadway in Bushwick when the incident occurred at about 12:30 p.m.  Graham was hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 47-year-old Uri Hochberg.

Thomas was found unresponsive by police and was pronounced dead later after being transported to Woodhull Medical Center. Police said the victim, a mother of two children, had just left a nail salon and was on her way to do some shopping in the area when the accident occurred about a mile away from her home.

Hochberg, a resident of Edison, New Jersey, was arrested shortly after the crash and now faces charges of driving while intoxicated and manslaughter.  The NYPD is continuing its investigation into the incident.
