PATERSON, NJ – A bus registered with a New York tour company crashed into an overturned SUV on Route 80 on Wednesday night. According to authorities, the accident started when a driver heading westbound in a Toyota SUV lost control and struck a divider, causing the vehicle to overturn in the roadway near the Route 20 extension. Shortly thereafter, the bus hit the SUV from behind.
There was visible damage and debris from the median that divides the east and westbound lanes. Police and emergency crews helped get passengers on the bus to safety, and there are no reported injuries for those on the bus at this time. The driver of the SUV was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment, but the extent of their injuries has not yet been reported.
