MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY – A multi-vehicle collision on the FDR Drive in Manhattan Tuesday evening left one driver dead and two others injured, according to The Daily News.
Police said 56-year-old Keith Jenkins was driving a Honda CR-V northbound on the highway near Exit 11 for East 53rd Street when he veered into another lane at about 6 p.m. The Honda collided with an Audi A6 and then hit a Volvo S90 before striking a jersey barrier.
Jenkins was pronounced dead after being taken to New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He was a resident of Ossining, New York.
The drivers of the Audi and the Volvo were transported to area hospitals, where they were both treated and released.
At least one lane of the FDR Drive was shut down due to the crash, causing major traffic delays during Tuesday evening’s rush hour. The accident remains under investigation by the NYPD.
