ROSEDALE, QUEENS, NY – Police said an MTA bus fatally struck a bicycle rider in Queens Saturday morning, according to The Daily News.
The accident happened in the Rosedale section of the borough, at the intersection of 128th Avenue and 238th Street.
According to the NYPD, a man was riding a gasoline-powered bicycle east on 128th Street at about 10:40 a.m. when he was hit by a Q85 bus that was going south on 238th Street. The bicyclist, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the bus driver stayed at the scene following the crash and was interviewed by investigators.
WNBC reported the bus involved in the incident would be taken out of service while the investigation into the incident continues.
MTA Action President Frank Annicaro released a statement that said ““This was a tragic incident and we are cooperating with the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad, which is in early stages of its review and will determine the facts.”
