1 dead, 1 injured after moped crashes into parked delivery truck in Brooklyn

GRAVESEND, BROOKLYN, NY – One man was killed and another was seriously injured when their electric moped was involved in a crash in Brooklyn on Thursday morning, according to the Daily News.

Police said the two men were riding north on 86th Street in the Gravesend section of the borough when the accident took place at about 4:10 a.m.  The moped crashed into a delivery truck that was parked near W. 11th Street.

The driver of the moped, identified as 20-year-old Luis Ramoz-Cumez of Bensonhurst, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 35-year-old man, was transported to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where he was listed in serious but stable condition. Neither man was wearing a helmet, police said.

The delivery truck was unoccupied at the time of the crash and no other injuries were reported.

The NYPD is continuing its investigation into the incident.
