RONKONKOMA, LONG ISLAND, NY – Police have arrested a man they say was responsible for a fatal pedestrian accident on Long Island early Sunday morning, according to a report by Newsday.
The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Wade Gagliano of Ronkonkoma, has been charged in connection with the incident that took place at about 1:30 a.m.
Suffolk County Police said Gagliano was driving a 2005 Lexus RX330 west on Johnson Avenue between Pine Avenue and Ocean Avenue when he struck a female pedestrian. The victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was identified as 67-year-old Adrienne Wagner of Ronkonkoma.
Authorities said Gagliano failed to remain at the scene of the accident but was located a short time later.
He has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and driving while intoxicated. Gagliano was scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip.
