CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN, NY – A man and a woman riding a motorcycle were killed in an accident in Brooklyn on Friday morning, the Daily News reports.
The crash happened in the vicinity of Rogers Avenue and Bergen Street in the Crown Heights section of the borough at about 10:30 a.m. Police said the operator of the motorcycle, 36-year-old Jose Garcia-Cruz, was passing a Mack truck on Rogers Avenue.
Garcia-Cruz lost control of the motorcycle, causing he and his passenger to fall to the ground where they were then hit by the truck. The passenger, identified as 25-year-old Kristina Walker, was pronounced dead at the scene. Garcia-Cruz passed away after being taken to Interfaith Medical Center.
The two lived near the scene of the crash. Garcia-Cruz was reported to have been driving Walker to work at the time.
Police said no charges were immediately filed against the 58-year-old truck driver, who stayed at the scene after the incident.
The NYPD is continuing its investigation, and anyone with information was asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
