The crash happened in the vicinity of Rogers Avenue and Bergen Street in the Crown Heights section of the borough at about 10:30 a.m. Police said the operator of the motorcycle, 36-year-old Jose Garcia-Cruz, was passing a Mack truck on Rogers Avenue.

Garcia-Cruz lost control of the motorcycle, causing he and his passenger to fall to the ground where they were then hit by the truck. The passenger, identified as 25-year-old Kristina Walker, was pronounced dead at the scene. Garcia-Cruz passed away after being taken to Interfaith Medical Center.

The two lived near the scene of the crash. Garcia-Cruz was reported to have been driving Walker to work at the time.

Police said no charges were immediately filed against the 58-year-old truck driver, who stayed at the scene after the incident.
