QUEENS, NEW YORK, NY – Police said a car accident in Queens early Sunday morning left one person dead and another injured, reports the New York Post.

According to the NYPD, 28-year-old Terrell Lumpkin was driving an Infiniti C37 on Guy R. Brewer Boulevard in Jamaica at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle shortly after midnight.

The Infiniti crashed into a wooden pole and then hit a metal light pole at the intersection with 119th Avenue. Paramedics rushed Lumpkin to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. A 26-year-old man riding as a passenger was taken to the same hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Authorities said Lumpkin lived about two blocks away from the crash scene.

The wreck is under investigation by the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad.
