Father, son killed when car crashes into retaining wall in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NEW YORK, NY – A car accident in Westchester County early Sunday morning claimed the lives of a man and his young son, the Journal News reports.

The crash took place near a northbound exit ramp along the Hutchinson River Parkway at the intersection with Pelhamdale Avenue in New Rochelle just after 1:30 a.m. Police said 36-year-old Troy Carter of Hempstead, Long Island was driving a Nissan Altima when he slammed into a brick retaining wall.

Carter was pronounced dead at the scene. His twin 7-year-old boys were riding in the back seat and were taken to Jacobi Hospital. One of the boys passed away at the Bronx hospital, while the other was reported to be undergoing surgery for internal injuries.

The man’s 11-year-old daughter was a front-seat passenger in the Altima. She was also taken to Jacobi Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition after undergoing surgery.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the crash.
