WOODSIDE, QUEENS, NY – A pedestrian accident in Queens on Saturday afternoon left an elderly woman hospitalized, according to a report in the Sunnyside Post.
Police said the incident took place as the 89-year-old victim was walking across 48th Street near Northern Boulevard at about 2:40 p.m. in the Woodside section of the borough. The driver of a Dodge Durango was coming out of the parking lot of a BJ’s Wholesale Club, turned north on 48th Street and struck the woman, according to investigators.
The victim was transported by EMS crews to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst and was listed in critical condition.
The 37-year-old man who was driving the Dodge stayed at the scene after the incident. He sustained minor injuries and was treated at the same hospital.
The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and so far there have been no arrests.
