SOUTH OZONE PARK, QUEENS, NY – The New York City Police Department is investigating a crash that killed an E-bike rider in Queens early Wednesday morning, according to WPIX.

The incident occurred on the Belt Parkway near Exit 18B for Lefferts Boulevard in South Ozone Park. Police said the unidentified victim was riding an E-bike westbound on the parkway at about 1 a.m. when the bike was struck from behind by a Dodge Charger. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Charger dragged the e-bike and then sideswiped a Mercedes-Benz, the Daily News reported. The driver of the Mercedes was not injured.

The NYPD said the driver of the Charger and four passengers got out of the car under the 130th Street overpass and took off on foot, leaving the car behind.

All westbound lanes of the Belt Parkway were shut down to traffic at Lefferts Boulevard for several hours while the scene was being cleared and police investigated.

So far no arrests have been announced in the case.
