Pedestrian Killed in Accident in Queens

QUEENS, NY – A driver hit and killed a pedestrian Sunday afternoon while attempting to pass a box truck on the right.

According to QNS, the crash occurred at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 22. A 26-year-old woman driving a 2019 Jeep SUV tried to pass a box truck while traveling north on Cross Bay Boulevard near Liberty Avenue. As the Jeep moved to the right of the box truck, the driver lost control and drove onto the sidewalk, crashing into a man and an electric utility pole.

The 59-year-old pedestrian sustained critical injuries during the accident. He was transported to Jamaica Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

The police report that the 26-year-old driver remained at the scene of the accident. The driver has not been charged for the fatal crash at this time.
