Driver charged in hit-and-run crash that killed motorcyclist in Nassau County

JERICHO, LONG ISLAND, NY – Police have announced an arrest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that took place in Nassau County late Tuesday night, according to Newsday.

A 29-year-old motorcyclist was riding westbound on Jericho Turnpike in Jericho at about 11:45 p.m. and was struck by a 2021 Kia K5 sedan that was going west, according to investigators. The motorcyclist, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the Kia became disabled a short time later at the entrance to the Long Island Expressway from Jericho Turnpike and the driver, identified as 30-year-old Jordan P. Solomon, was placed under arrest.

Solomon, a resident of Forest Hills, Queens, is now facing multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a fatality and second-degree vehicular manslaughter. He was scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead.
