QUEENS, NEW YORK, NY – A driver has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash in Queens on Dec. 24, 2020, according to the New York Post.
Authorities said 23-year-old Jason Liriano of Cypress Hills, Brooklyn was behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Urus when he crashed into an Uber car, a Toyota Camry, at the intersection of 103rd Avenue and Rockaway Boulevard in Ozone Park.
A passenger in the Camry, 54-year-old Ritawantee Persaud of Ozone Park, died after being taken to Jamaica Hospital. The driver of the Camry and a 26-year-old passenger in the Lamborghini were hospitalized with serious injuries.
Police said Liriano fled the scene on foot after the Lamborghini overturned in the wreck. Investigators linked him to the crash through DNA found in the car, the Daily News reported.
When the evidence was found, Liriano was already behind bars at Rikers Island after being charged in a shooting, authorities said. He is now also charged with criminally negligent homicide and leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death.
