(BUFFALO, APRIL 2020) — Five people have been hospitalized following a major crash that included a Buffalo PD vehicle, WBEN reports. The crash took place shortly after noon on Wednesday.

Of the five injuries, one is the officer, two were in the other vehicle, and two were pedestrians. All five were taken to Erie County Medical Center. While four of the injuries are not considered life-threatening, Mayor Byron Brown says that “One of the pedestrians, a 29-year old female, is currently in critical condition.”

At the time of the accident, police were evidently responding to a knife call, including the officer involved.

Buffalo Police are investigating the incident with assistance from the New York State Police Accident Investigation Unit.
