CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN, NY – Police said a woman was killed when her scooter was hit by a vehicle in Brooklyn last week, according to The Daily News.
The victim, identified as 32-year-old Winter King, was riding the scooter Wednesday evening with her 6-year-old son on the back on Dean Street near Albany Avenue in Crown Heights. Police said a driver of a Ford Escape was pulling out of a residential driveway at about 6:25 p.m. and the car struck the scooter.
King was thrown from the scooter and into a parked car. She was pronounced dead after being taken to Interfaith Medical Center. The boy was transported to the same hospital but was not seriously injured and was listed in stable condition.
The NYPD said the driver involved stayed at the scene and no charges were immediately filed. King’s boyfriend said the woman and her son had been riding around the block from their home when the incident occurred. Neither was reported to be wearing helmets.
Police are continuing their investigation into the accident.
