BROOKLYN, NY – A man died early Tuesday morning when he lost control of the Revel scooter he was driving and crashed into a light pole.
According to the New York Post, Jeremy Malave crashed while riding a Revel electric ridesharing moped at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28. The 32-year-old Brooklyn man was traveling north on Woodhaven Boulevard near 67th Drive when he lost control of the scooter. He drove off the road and into a central medial and hit a light pole.
Police officers on the scene found Malave lying in the street with severe head trauma. Medics rushed Malave to North Shore Forest Hills Hospital for treatment but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Malave was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, but it was not properly fastened. At this time, the police are unsure of what caused Malave to lose control of the scooter and crash.
Malave’s death is the third serious incident this summer involving the ridesharing company.
