Truck Accidents and Who’s Responsible

In most multi-vehicle automotive accidents, fault is usually shared by the drivers involved in the collision, one of whom is determined to be most responsible for the accident. However, accidents involving commercial trucks are different. In addition to the driver of the vehicle, many other parties may be variously at-fault, including:

  • The trucking company
  • The driver’s employer, if different than the company
  • The contractor
  • The company that manufactured the cargo
  • The people who loaded the cargo

Determining who is legally liable following a truck accident can potentially be much more difficult than in similar incidents involving only passenger vehicles.
