HEMPSTEAD, LONG ISLAND, NY – Police say an alleged drunk driver caused a fatal crash on Long Island Saturday morning and is now facing criminal charges, according to Newsday.
27-year-old Tasha Brown of Uniondale was behind the wheel of a Toyota Corolla on Front Street in Hempstead when the accident occurred at about 4:35 a.m. Investigators said Brown crashed into multiple cars that were parked at Hendrickson Avenue, killing a man who was sitting in one of the cars. He was a 29-year-old Massapequa resident whose name was not released.
Brown and three passengers in her car were hospitalized. Two of the passengers were listed in serious but stable condition while a third was treated and released. No details were released on Brown’s injuries.
Brown was subsequently arrested on multiple charges, including second-degree manslaughter, second-degree vehicular manslaughter, and DWI. She will be arraigned when it is medically practical to do so, authorities said.
Nassau County Police are continuing their investigation into the crash.
