AMITYVILLE, LONG ISLAND, NY – Four people were injured Saturday morning in a car crash on Long Island involving an alleged drunk driver, reports Newsday.
Police said two cars, a Mercedes and a Nissan Sentra, collided in front of the Amityville Men’s Shop on Park Avenue at about 3 a.m. The impact of the crash sent the Mercedes into the front of the business.
Police, firefighters and area paramedics responded to the scene and found the injured victims. They included the driver of the Nissan and two passengers in the Mercedes, who were transported to an area hospital. No details were released on their conditions.
The Town of Babylon’s Technical Rescue Team was dispatched to stabilize the building. News12 reports the men’s shop and another business sustained major damage in the crash and were deemed unsafe by the Village of Amityville.
The driver of the Mercedes, 41-year-old Jeffrey White of Central Islip, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. White was arraigned Saturday morning in Amityville Village Court and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court Sept. 13.
