6 injured after driver crashes into Long Island salon

LONG ISLAND, NY – Six people were taken to area hospitals after a driver crashed through the front window of a beauty salon in the Kensington area on Sunday.

According to a report by the Suffolk Daily Voice, the incident occurred at about 1:45 when an 84-year-old female driver collided with another vehicle in the 150 block of Middle Neck Road. The force of the impact sent the first vehicle crashing through the front window of the Salon De Franco.

Two women inside the salon were hospitalized with unknown injuries. Two people in the second vehicle, including a juvenile passenger, were also taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

A rescue worker was injured by broken glass while working to extricate the driver of the first vehicle. Both the officer and driver were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
