BROOKLYN, NY – Police said four people were injured, one critically, when their vehicle crashed in southern Brooklyn on Friday night, amNewYork reports.
The accident happened along Ocean Parkway near Avenue X in the Gravesend section of the borough. According to investigators, a 19-year-old man was driving a BMW south at high speed at about 9 p.m. when he collided with another vehicle that was turning left onto Avenue X. The impact sent the BMW toward the curb and then into a traffic light pole.
A 22-year-old man who was a passenger in the BMW was taken to NYU Langone Health, where he was listed in critical condition. The driver and two other passengers, an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, were hospitalized at Lutheran Medical Center in stable condition.
The driver of the second vehicle, a 45-year-old man, was not injured in the wreck. He remained at the scene afterwards. So far there have been no arrests.
The report noted three other people have died recently in previous accidents at the same intersection.
