NEW HYDE PARK, LONG ISLAND, NY – A car crash on Long Island involving a suspected drunk driver left three women dead, according to Newsday.
The incident happened late Saturday night near a catering hall on Jericho Turnpike, The Inn at New Hyde Park. Nassau County police said there were six people inside a Lincoln Town Car in the eastbound lane of Jericho Turnpike when the vehicle was struck by a Mercedes-Benz sedan at about 11:10 p.m.
Three female passengers who were in the back seat of the Lincoln were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Lincoln and the two other passengers were hospitalized in stable condition.
The driver of the Mercedes, 22-year-old Dante Lennon of Freeport, has been charged with three counts of vehicular manslaughter, vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated.
Lennon sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Police said he would be arraigned as soon as it is medically possible.
The New York Post reports the victims had just left a Sweet 16 party at the catering venue when the accident occurred.
