3 killed when stolen car crashes into utility pole in Suffolk County

BROOKHAVEN, LONG ISLAND, NY – Police on Long Island are investigating a car accident last week that left three people dead, according to a report by Patch.

Authorities responded to the scene Thursday night on Montauk Highway near Carman Boulevard in Brookhaven, in front of the headquarters of the Brookhaven Fire Department.

Suffolk County police said three males were riding in a stolen car, a 2019 Chrysler, when the vehicle crashed into a utility pole at about 8 p.m. and all three occupants of the vehicle were killed.  No other injuries were reported in the incident.

The names of the victims and their ages were not immediately released pending the notification of their next of kin.  Police said the car had been stolen on Sept. 5 from a location in the 7th Precinct. No details were provided on the circumstances that led to the accident.

The accident remains under investigation by the 5th Detective Squad.  Anyone with further information was asked to contact the Suffolk County Police Department.
