WEST HEMPSTEAD, LONG ISLAND, NY – Police are investigating a collision in Nassau County last week that left two teenagers dead and another hospitalized, according to Newsday.

The accident took place early Thursday morning on Westminster Road near Fairlawn Avenue in West Hempstead. Nassau County police said an 18-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a northbound BMW SUV at about 1 a.m. when she went off the road and slammed into a delivery truck that was parked.  The BMW spun and flipped over, and two passengers in the vehicle were ejected.

The passengers, a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl, were both pronounced dead at the scene.  The male victim was identified as Curtis Caesar of Hollis, Queens. The SUV driver was transported to an area hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.

Police said they believe speed was a factor in the wreck, but the investigation is continuing and there has been no word yet on whether any charges will be filed.
