1 teenager killed, 1 injured in Suffolk County car accident

BAY SHORE, LONG ISLAND, NY – An investigation is underway following a car accident on Long Island that killed one teenager and injured another, according to a report by Newsday.

Police and emergency crews responded to the scene on Pine Aire Drive near Taylor Avenue in Bay Shore after the crash occurred early Tuesday at about 12:30 a.m. Investigators determined that a 17-year-old male was driving a 2018 Infiniti east on Pine Aire Drive when he lost control of the vehicle. The car went across the westbound lane and went off the roadway before crashing into a utility pole and flipping over.

The front-seat passenger, a 17-year-old male from Bay Shore, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver sustained injuries that were not reported to be serious, and was transported to South Shore University Hospital.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with further information was asked to contact Suffolk County Police detectives, who are conducting the investigation.
