1 dead, 4 injured after cars collide in Crown Heights, Brooklyn

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN, NY – A teenage driver was taken into custody following a deadly car crash in Brooklyn early Sunday morning, the New York Post reports.

Two cars were involved in the accident in the area of Eastern Parkway and Rogers Avenue in Crown Heights at about 2 a.m. According to the NYPD, an 18-year-old male was driving a Hyundai Sonata when it crashed into a Toyota Solara.

An 18-year-old woman in the rear passenger seat of the Hyundai was pronounced dead after being transported to Kings County Hospital. The driver of the Hyundai was taken to the same hospital in critical condition. Two 19-year-old male passengers were in stable condition.

The driver of the Toyota, a 61-year-old woman, was listed in stable condition at Kings County Hospital. The names of those involved in the wreck were not immediately released.

Police said charges are now pending against the driver of the Hyundai. The accident remains under investigation by the NYPD’s Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad.
