UPDATE: Middle Island man arraigned for shooting at police after car accident

(LONG ISLAND, January 2020) — Leroy Jones of Middle Island was arraigned in court on Monday for shooting at police after a car accident on December 23rd. According to authorities, Jones' vehicle collided with a Nissan Pathfinder on Middle Country Road in Middle Island. When police arrived to the scene, Jones fled from the scene on foot. When an officer pursued him, he opened fire, but fortunately missed.
Jones is facing aggravated assault, attempted murder, criminal use of a firearm, and various other criminal charges.
