Carjacking ends in two-vehicle collision on Long island

BELLMERE. NY- According to authorities, a man was held at gunpoint near Crunch Fitness in Bellmere before the suspect took his wallet and cellphone and drove off in his car around 4 AM on Thursday. The carjacker was able to escape to Southern State Parkway before eventually crashing his vehicle into a guardrail.
The suspect suffered minor injuries from the crash and was placed into custody. A Nassau County police officer following the carjacker crashed into a pole during the chase and sustained minor injuries.
