Driver crashes into five vehicles during car chase in the Queens-Midtown Tunnel

Bicyclist hospitalized after head-on collision in Lindenhurst

(LONG ISLAND, December 2019) — A 34-year-old man was biking westbound in the eastbound lane of Montauk Highway in Lindenhurst on Sunday night when he was struck by a 2003 Hyundai Sonata. The bicyclist was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center where he was reported to be in critical condition. The driver of the Hyundai was not injured, but a male passenger in the vehicle was treated for minor injuries.

New York-bound plane crashes in residential neighborhood in Maryland

Vehicle fire reported after crash near Long Island Railroad station

(LONG ISLAND, December 2019) — A vehicle slammed into a pillar near the Lindenhurst Long Island Railroad station around 1:40 AM on Saturday morning. Following the collision, the car burst into flames. Authorities arrived at the scene at East Hoffman Avenue and South High Street and were able to rescue the driver from the vehicle. The condition of the driver is currently unknown.

Nassau County police officer hospitalized after collision in Franklin Square

(NEW YORK, December 2019) — A police officer was injured following an accident in Franklin Square on Tuesday afternoon. A Nassau County police cruiser slammed into a Lexus SUV near James Street and Hempstead Turnpike while responding to a call. Both vehicles were significantly damaged in the crash.

Hempstead man killed in hit-and-run crash in Queens

(NEW YORK, December 2019) — A pedestrian was killed when walking across Rockaway Boulevard and 114th Street in Queens around 9:30 PM on Christmas night. According to authorities, 67-year-old Ainsley Dalrymple of Hempstead parked his car, exited his vehicle, and began to cross the street when a gray or silver Toyota truck struck him. He was taken to the hospital where he died of his injuries. The driver of the truck did not remain on the scene.

Child struck by car when taking out the trash in Flatbush

Homeless man hit and killed by elderly driver in Harlem

(NEW YORK, December 2019) — A man was lying in the right lane of 116th Street, near St. Nicholas Avenue, in Harlem when he was run over by an 81-year-old driver around 6:50 p.m. on Thursday night. The victim, who was reportedly homeless, was transported to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.

Man killed in underride crash in East Guilford

(NEW YORK, December 2019) - A 73-year old man was killed when the SUV he was riding in collided with a tractor trailer. The accident occurred at the intersection of Route 8 and County Route 35 in East Guilford. The driver of the Subaru Forester that the victim, identified as William T. Brett of Lake, NY, traveled through the intersection and hit the trailer, sliding underneath it.

Six injured in car-bus crash in Queens

(NEW YORK, December 2019) — A Metropolitan Transit Authority bus was driving down 164th Street when it collided with a Mercedes Benz on Grand Central Parkway around 6 a.m. on Christmas morning. The bus was carrying ten passengers, and four of them were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, along with the drivers of both vehicles.

Vehicle becomes trapped in pedestrian lane of Pulaski Bridge

(NEW YORK, December 2019) — A Honda Accord became trapped in the pedestrian lane of the Brooklyn side of the Pulaski Bridge early Thursday morning. When authorities arrived to the scene, the driver was no longer in the vehicle. It took police and a tow truck several hours to finally remove the car from the pedestrian lane. The car was significantly damaged in the process.

Driver pulls out weapon, shoots at officers after car accident in Long Island

(LONG ISLAND, December 2019) — A Volvo driving down Middle Country Road hit a Nissan Pathfinder around 8:30 p.m. on Monday night. When authorities arrived at the scene, the driver of the Volvo jumped out of his vehicle and fled on foot. When police officers pursued him, he pulled out a gun and began firing at them. According to official sources, the police returned fire, but were not able to apprehend him at the scene.

U.S. Route 4 Westbound closed for hours after crash

(NEW YORK, December 2019) - A collision on U.S. Route 4 caused significant delays at the New York state line as crews worked to clear the scene. The road was reopened at approximately 6:20 p.m. yesterday. Authorities have not yet released details of the crash or if anyone was injured.

Teenage driver killed, passenger injured in single-vehicle accident in Rocky Point

(LONG ISLAND, December 2019) — A Patchouge teen was killed in a car accident on North Country Road near Route 25A around 10 PM Monday night. According to authorities, the driver, Robert Permenter, was traveling down the road in a 1995 BMW when he swerved off the road, crashing into a tree. He was transported to the nearby Stony Brook University Hospital where he was declared dead. A 17-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was treated for minor injuries.

Minivan collides with city vehicle, crashes into Manhattan pharmacy

(NEW YORK, December 2019) — A Honda Odyessy and a Toyota Prius slammed into one another on the intersection of Broadway near 133rd Street, sending the Odyessy into the doorway of Hamilton Pharmacy at 3293 Broadway. The Toyota Prius, owned by the city's Department of Housing, Preservation & Development, crashed into a nearby sidewalk shed being used in construction.

Mount Sinai professor killed in bus-bike accident near Central Park

(NEW YORK, December 2019) - A 50-year-old Mount Sinai professor was killed on Wednesday when his bike hit a patch of ice on 96th Street and Fifth Avenue, causing him to fall in front of a passing school bus. The cyclist, Dr. Daniel Cammerman, was transported to Mount Sinai hospital one block away from the scene, where he was pronounced dead.

Three dead in fatal Woodbridge collision

(NEW JERSEY, December 2019) — Three young women were killed when their vehicle rear-ended a tractor-trailer in Woodbridge, New Jersey,  25 miles south of New York City. Just before midnight on Friday, Uchechukw Chukwuma, Michaela Powell and Brianna Martinez were heading home from their high school reunion when they ran into a tractor-trailer that was pulling away from a stoplight.

Long Island bicyclist hit and killed in tragic accident

(LONG ISLAND, December 2019) — Sean Siegel of Huntington Station was struck and killed by a 2015 Nissan Rogue when he was bicycling on Route 110 and Jericho Turnpike on Friday evening. He was taken to nearby Huntington Hospital where he died from his injuries. The driver of the Nissan, Dominik Amorosa, did not sustain any injuries.

Car slams into tree, splits in half in the Bronx

(NEW YORK, December 2019) —  A 27-year-old driver was heading south on the Hutchinson River Parkway near the Orchard Beach exit when he was cut off by another vehicle early Monday morning. In an effort to not crash into the other vehicle, he swerved out of the way, but lost control and slammed into a tree on the side of the freeway.

Car slams into mailbox, flips over in Rockland County

(NEW YORK, December 2019) — A woman crashed into a mailbox on Bluejay Street in the Village of Chestnut Ridge early Thursday morning. The woman's car flipped over onto its side after slamming into the mailbox. According to law enforcement, the 61-year-old woman was driving with ice on her windshield. Ramapo Police Officer Michael Higgins said, "I believe the driver was in a rush. She tried de-thawing it from inside the vehicle and, I believe, grew impatient and left."

Box truck hits, kills pedestrian in Brooklyn

(NEW YORK, December 2019) — An 85-year-old man was struck by a box truck and killed on Thursday afternoon. The accident occurred at around 3:30 p.m. The pedestrian was standing in the middle of 39th Street and 3rd Avenue when the truck hit him. The victim was transported to Lutheran Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the box truck, a 24-year-old, remained at the scene and has been cooperating with authorities.

Driver narrowly escapes burning car after collision in Rockland County

Driver killed in head-on collision in Northern Westchester

(NEW YORK, December 2019) — An unidentified driver was killed in a head-on a collision in Northern Westchester on Monday night. The crash occurred on South Bedford Road near Old Wagon Road in Bedford. According to the North Salem Daily Voice, the surviving driver was taken to the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for treatment, although the severity of their injuries has not yet been disclosed.

Drunk driver causes serious injury accident in Holbrook

Two-month-old critically injured in crash in North Patchogue

(BROOKLYN, NY - December 2019) - An off-duty NYPD officer who was involved in a deadly hit-and-run collision in Brooklyn will not face charges, according to the Brooklyn DA's office. Despite the fact that the 22-year veteran, 47-year-old Rohan Shaw had been drinking and was driving recklessly, police sources say that he is "not off the hook," but will not be prosecuted at this time, according to The Daily News.
