Different businesses handle Thanksgiving weekend retail in different ways.  Some businesses are opening their doors on the evening of the holiday itself, trying to lure in customers before budgets have been busted by midnight openings elsewhere.  Others wait until midnight on Black Friday, and still others simply maintain their regular hours.

Mass Carbon Monoxide Exposure Affects Dozens at Music Venue

Dozens of people were exposed to carbon monoxide at a popular music venue on August 16th, 2018, in Manhattan.  A beverage dispenser at the facility was dispensing carbon monoxide into the environment.  It is unclear how long the issue might have existed before it discovered and addressed, but clearly at the very least hundreds of people were exposed.  At least a dozen of the people exposed were sufficiently ill to seek emergency medical care.

A Necessary Crackdown

New York State troopers cracked down in various jurisdictions on Thursday, October 25th, 2018, hoping to curtail a dangerous increase in distracted driving across the state.  Hundreds of citations were issued to drivers for various infractions, including driving dangerously due to interacting with an electronic device.

Infection Containment Key For Medical Facilities

Seven children have died after being exposed to adenovirus at a New Jersey rehabilitation center for medically fragile children.  The source of the virus is still being investigated as health officials and the facility scramble to prevent even more deaths.  The facility has also been ordered not to admit new patients until the investigation is complete and the outbreak is contained.
