Jury Awards Woman $70 Million in Latest Talcum Powder Ovarian Cancer Verdict

In the third case of its kind this year, a jury awarded a California woman $70 million after she had used Johnson & Johnson baby power and was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. With this latest verdict, the total owed to plaintiffs in 2016 in the cases against Johnson & Johnson has reached almost $200 million. Many women are concerned now more than ever about the risks of being diagnosed with this rare yet deadly disease as the result of using what they thought was a basic feminine hygiene product.

Mike Pence Thankful No One Injured After Plane Skids Off Runway at LaGuardia Airport

With the election less than two weeks away, vice presidential candidate Mike Pence had quite the scare when his campaign plane skidded off the runway at LaGuardia Airport during landing. Fortunately, a major accident was avoided and no one was injured thanks to safety equipment on the runway which halted the airplane less than a quarter of a mile from the Grand Central Parkway.

Greater Awareness Necessary for Lung Cancer Diagnosis in Women

As we head into Lung Cancer Awareness Month this November, a recent study has confirmed what many people may not realize—lung cancer is the largest cancer killer in women. And while over 106,000 women will be diagnosed with lung cancer this year and 72,000 will lose their battle with the disease, a disturbing 98 percent of women do not even think about lung cancer when considering risks to their health and well-being. Neglecting the possibility of being diagnosed with lung cancer may also contribute to its high mortality rate.

Investigation Continues into Deadly California Bus Crash

Ten women and three men on their way back from a casino were fatally injured when the bus they were riding on collided with a tractor-trailer on a California highway early Sunday morning. Dozens of injured passengers were taken to three area hospitals for treatment, in what is being described as one of the deadliest crashes the state has ever seen.

New York Senator Proposes Speed Regulations to Reduce the Number of Fatal Truck Accidents

This summer the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration put forth a proposal to help cut down the number of deaths due to truck accidents, by ensuring that large trucks could not travel at high speeds. Now, New York Senator Charles Schumer is calling on the Department of Transportation for the speed restrictive devices recommended by the NHTSA to be approved and put into place as soon as possible.

Elevator Accident in Brooklyn Fatally Injures an Infant

It started as an ordinary morning for a young Brooklyn mother as she was ready to take the elevator down from the 23rd floor at the Sea Rise Apartments near Coney Island. When the doors opened and the 21-year-old went to enter the elevator car with the stroller holding her young daughter, the mother and infant instead fell into the elevator shaft and onto the top of the car they were waiting for.

Frightening New Statistics on Teenage Drivers

On the heels of reports showing an increase in traffic related deaths comes news that the number of teenage drivers involved in fatal crashes is also on the rise. Speeding, distracted driving, and poor visual screening were found to be the largest mistakes teen drivers make behind the wheel, contributing to the number of accidents. Parents apparently do not appear to be helping the situation either, as researchers found it is often a case of “do as I say, not as I do,” when it comes to adults and their teenage drivers.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Is Gone For Good
